Wii Games Now on Android Devices Thanks to a Clever Hack

Want to play Wii games on your Android tablet? Well, one man has figured out how to play Wii games on his Android tablet. We aren’t sure why, but the deed is done.

Using the Splashtop Remote Desktop App, which remotely connects and allows you to access your computer via VNC, a Dolphin Emulator, and a wireless Xbox 360 controller, Obiwan222222 got the job done.

Wii Games Now on Android Devices Thanks to a Clever Hack
Of course there is no Wiimote needed to play these games on Android devices. So what else did he do to make this work? Well he connected the wireless remote to his ASUS Eee Pad Transformer’s keyboard dock, used the Dolphin Emulator to run the Wii, then he used the Splashtop Remote Desktop App to connect to the device running the Dolphin emulator. It’s all pretty straightforward. Why didn’t I think of this first? Probably because I’d rather play PS3 and Xbox 360 games. He did a fantastic job though

What You Didn't Know About Nintendo

I saw this on Reddit a earlier today and just wanted to share it. I’m impressed by two things: One that someone took the time to research it and put this together. And two, that I was able to compress the entire image down to only 317kb and still make it look good. The entire, and very long, image after the fold.

Conduit 2 slips back to April

At ease, Wii fans; Sega’s supernatural shooter, Conduit 2, will not be making its March release as announced just days ago.

Instead you’ll see the sequel on April 19th as Sega PR confirmed: “The game is now scheduled for release on April 19, 2011, which allows for the team to continue to balance and enhance the game’s multiplayer, one of the key features and focuses during the development of this ambitious sequel.”

Conduit 2 is no stranger to delays, although that’s not surprising given how quickly it was announced after the release of the original game. Still, we can wait a little under a month if it means the game is that much better.

Mama Mia! Majesco cooks up $2.1 million fiscal-year loss

Majesco Entertainment ended its last fiscal year (on October 31, 2010) with a $2.1 million loss -- which is better than the $6.6 million it flambéed the previous fiscal year. The financially troubled publisher is pinning its hopes in the new fiscal year (which began Nov. 1) on Crafting Mama, Babysitting Mama and Zumba Fitness, which has already sold a half-million units since its mid-November release. Majesco has also planted one of those money-growing trees: a Facebook game, Friends Cafe.

With its focus on mass-market appeal, Majesco could well bake up some profits this fiscal year. We'll keep watch over its shoulder, though, mindful to leave a clear path to the fire extinguisher in case the money continues to burn.

Activision finds no Bizarre buyers, recommends closure

Activision has recommended Bizarre Creations for closure, saying it has exhausted other options. Speaking with Develop, Activision Worlwide Studios' COO Coddy Johnson said he wanted "to be clear" that the publisher tried to keep the group together by finding a buyer, but after exploring leads with "pretty much anyone you can imagine in the industry," they were left with the option of "last resort."

Activision made it known in early November that the Liverpool-based studio had entered a consultation period, a 90-day phase under UK law that warns of potential closure. On the same day as the announcement, Activision closed Iowa-based Budcat in the US. At the time, Activision said that, despite a substantial investment in creating a new IP, Blur did not find a commercial audience.

Lag-free Wii on PSP episode II: Mario Kart strikes back

It looks like our favorite PSP Fanboy, Obiwan222222, is up to his old tricks once again, and his latest video shows that he has finally eliminated the lag problem that plagued his first attempt to play Wii on a PSP four years ago. Using a Wii emulator on a PC, some custom firmware, and a program called PSPDisplay, he has managed to stream video and sound to his PSP Go in real time. He also mapped the Wii controls (Wiimote waving excluded, we presume) to the handheld to complete the full Wii-on-PSP gameplaying experience. To see the slick mod in action, check the video after the break.

Nintendo 'exploring option' of reprinting Super Mario All-Stars

Nintendo wasn't kidding about Super Mario All-Stars: Limited Edition being limited -- the game has become hard to find since its December release, with eBay prices hovering around the $70–80 mark. According to Nintendo PR director Marc Franklin, it may become easier to find in the future, though, as the publisher is considering reprinting the ... reprinted SNES collection ... of reprinted NES games. (A re-re-reprinting, if you will.)

"Because of the strong response, we are exploring the option of bringing this item back at a later date," Franklin told GameLife. "Until that decision is made, consumers should check with retailers, as supplies will vary by store."

Wii Rock Band Network releases to stop next week

All Rock Band Network tracks are available for purchase through the Xbox 360 Rock Band games, and Harmonix periodically dumps some popular tracks from the DIY authoring service onto the PS3 and Wii games as DLC. Next week's set of RBN songs (after the break), however, will be the last to make the trip over to Wii.

"With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process these additional tracks," Harmonix's Aaron Trites explained in the weekly DLC announcement, "we're no longer able to continue submitting RBN content to the Wii." That's not the end for all downloadable music on Wii, however: "regular Wii DLC, and RBN releases for the 360 and PS3 will continue uninterrupted."

FIFA Interactive World Cup celebrates a record breaking year
The FIFA President had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest to the Home of FIFA this week when Nenad Stojkovic, FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion 2010, joined Joseph S. Blatter to celebrate the tournament’s entry into the latest version of the Guinness Book of Records.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup is now officially the largest gaming tournament in the world, with 775,000 competitors taking part in the 2010 edition of the event. This event climaxed in Barcelona in May 2010 when Nenad was crowned champion after defeating all challengers at the Grand Final.
“The FIFA Interactive World Cup is of great importance to FIFA’s portfolio of events” said Mr Blatter, “the tournament gives us the opportunity to engage with a wider target audience through a platform which is of high relevance to the next generations of football fans”.
These words were echoed by the Chief Editor of the Guinness World Records, Gaz Deaves, who congratulated FIFA and its Partners EA SPORTS™ and Sony Playstation, saying “The strength of the FIFA Interactive World Cup is a hugely impressive achievement and its 775,000 participants are a testament not only to the popularity of sports videogames but also to the incredible effort it takes to organise the biggest gaming tournament in the world. We are pleased to award this record to FIFA and look forward to seeing it broken in 2011.”
This year’s edition of the FIFA Interactive World Cup now promises to be larger than ever, breaking its own record for the number of competitors. The tournament has a new format this year, with six online seasons making the event more accessible than ever. NES Ghosts 'N Goblins removed from Virtual Console

Arthur has bested demons, specters and all manner of otherworldly monsters, but now he's finally found an unbeatable foe: Erasure. No, we're not speaking about the greatest band of all time -- we're speaking about actual, literal erasure. The NES version of Ghosts 'N Goblins has mysteriously vanished off of the Wii Virtual Console platform, leaving only the slightly more expensive, 800 Nintendo Point arcade version in its wake.

Capcom hasn't formally explained why the NES version of the game disappeared, but it certainly isn't the first title to vanish off of Nintendo's downloadable games services without warning or cause. Ironically enough, our best guess for the reason behind these disappearances involve both ghosts and goblins. We'll see if we can get something a little more official than that.

Pachter: Xbox 360 outsold PS3 two-to-one in December; Nintendo reveals numbers

Wedbush Securities games industry analyst Michael Pachter's magic crystal ball predicts another month of Xbox 360 dominance in the NPD charts. His latest report to IndustryGamers says to expect sales of Microsoft's console to be more than double that of its biggest competitor, the PS3, for December. Prognosticating that the Xbox 360 sold 2.5 million units last month, he's betting on a 91 percent boost in sales over November for Microsoft. As for the PS3, Pachter figures it sold 1.2 million units in December, a 12 percent dip compared to its performance in November.

As for actual real numbers, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata revealed in an interview with Nikkei (via Andriasang) that the Wii sold over two million units in December. The DS reportedly performed on par with the same period in 2009, which would be somewhere around three million units.

Black Ops led 2010 UK game sales, Just Dance top of the pops on Wii

Although it comes as little surprise, Call of Duty: Black Ops was the best-selling game in the UK last year. The UK Interactive Entertainment Association's 2010 bestsellers list features the usual suspects, with Black Ops, FIFA 11 and Just Dance occupying the top three spots, respectively, across all platform sales.

Breaking it down by format, Blops landed in the top sales spot for Xbox 360 and PS3 games, while Just Dance and its sequel filled the first and third positions among Wii releases, naturally. Professor Layton And The Lost Future took the golden picarat for DS and FIFA 11 charged to the top of the charts on PSP.

Although one could speculate as to why Black Ops wasn't at the front line of PC sales in the UK, it's just as fitting that Football Manager 2011 and 2010 occupied the forward spots in the region. Check out the complete breakdown by format after the jump.
