VBoxLaunch Creates a Custom Jump List for Your VirtualBox Machines
Download VBoxLaunch, put it in your VirtualBox folder, run the app, and then pin it to your Start Menu or Task Bar to create your custom jump list. From that point forward you can launch a virtual machine by opening the jumplist and clicking on the machine you want to work with.
VBoxLaunch is free and requires Windows 7 with .NET Framework 3.5 installed.

GNOME 3.2 Released - See What's New
GNOME 3.2 was officially released yesterday with all those cool features which I'm sure you've all been waiting for. Let's take a look at what's new:
- GNOME Documents:
- GNOME Contacts, which includes your contacts from applications such as Evolution or Empathy, in one place:

What's new in GNOME 3.2
Online Accounts: you can manage online sources like Google Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Chat and even Documents from within the GNOME 3.2 UI, with the help of applications such as GNOME Documents, Contacts, Empathy, Evolution:

"Documents" is a new application which allows you to manage both online (Google Docs) as well as local documents.
- GNOME Contacts, which includes your contacts from applications such as Evolution or Empathy, in one place:

Web Application mode: you can save websites as "web apps" through Epiphany. The newly created web apps will show up in the GNOME Shell menu, you can add pin them to Dash, etc.:
Once click installation support for GNOME Shell extensions: GNOME Shell got a browser plugin which will allow you to install extensions with a click, however, extensions.gnome.org isn't working just yet. Also, according to a message on the GNOME Shell mailing list, even though this feature is not "advertised" for GNOME 3.2, it should work later on:
I think what makes sense is to have the site as a bit of a stealth-beta for this release ... something we're still working on, something we don't advertise as a release feature, but something that you can already use.

Experimental Wayland and "Broadway" HTML 5 backend for GTK+ 3.2 (which allows you to run applications in a web browser). We've already talked about this a few days ago - see: GTK+ 3.2 Released With HTML5 And Wayland Backends Support.
The user menu which allows you to enable/disable notifications:
Quick Nautilus previews for pictures, music and other files (like Gloobus Preview), through an application called Sushi. To preview a file, select it and press SPACE:

You may be wondering why I didn't record some of the new GNOME 3.2 features like Broadway backend, etc. and why I've used some of the official GNOME 3.2 screenshots instead of my own. Here's why:
- GTK+ 3.2 is not built with Broadway backend support in Ubuntu 11.10 (with "--enable-x11-backend" and "--enable-broadway-backend") and building it myself doesn't work either due to a bug in libcanberra it seems (I get a segfault). If you get it to work, please let me know how :)
- the Nautilus preview feature is missing in Oneiric (Sushi has not been packaged)
- GNOME Documents is not available in Oneiric yet (as far as I know)
- GDM 3.2 is not yet available in Oneiric
- Epiphany in Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't support web apps yet, but I've compiled the latest version for this post (unfortunately, this is the only missing feature that I could "fix" in Oneiric)
Battlefield 3 beta out September 29th
We’ve been waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more, and while all this waiting may have unreasonably gotten to our heads considering we’re not talking about the release of the actual game, excitement flows in the air as DICE and EA have finally let loose information on the September-bound — which we were slowly running out of — Battlefield 3 open beta.
It’s now known the beta will be out on all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 29th through October 10th (there’s a dedicated site up too). Still a week and a half to go — unless you happen have pre-ordered the game on Origin or own a copy of Medal of Honor, in which cases it’s only a week worth of agonizing wait for you (September 27th) — but with the announcement comes relief of finally knowing the unknown.
Those lucky to have been part of the alpha testing will be familiar with both the mode and map available in the beta; Rush on Operation Metro, which encompasses not the vehicular warfare Battlefield is known for, but the new kind of settings DICE is rolling with, which are not only vast, open areas, but tight enclosed quarters as well.
Battlefield 3‘s social media network, otherwise known as Battlelog, will be made available as well, letting players “communicate and compete with friends, track their stats and share their progress.”
The beta will automatically appear on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Marketplace and Origin’s application’s demo page when available.

Download Windows 8 Developer Preview Build ISO (32-bit & 64-bit)
The first Windows 8 Developer Preview build has been made available for download by Microsoft for all the Windows enthusiasts. Microsoft has been successful in keeping Windows 8 safe from leaking and it would not be wrong to say that the wait for first official preview build was worth it, as all the awesome features of Windows 8 are present in it, the demo of which Microsoft gave today at Build conference.
Every machine that can run Windows 7 would be able to run Windows 8 developer preview without any problem. Below are given the specs for running Windows 8:
- 1 Gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 Gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
